Cream Cheese Brownies

Ingredients
Cheese layer
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • ½ cup maraschino cherries
Brownie layer
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ¾ cup flour
  • ½ cup nuts
  • tsp salt
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • ½ cup butter
Icing
  • 1 ⅓ cups icing sugar
  • cup cocoa
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 5 tsp hot water or coffee
Method
  1. Heat the oven to 350 and grease an 8 by 8 pan.
  2. Cheese layer: beat the cheese and 1 egg well. Blend the sugar and flour in gradually. Stir in the cherries. Set aside.
  3. Brownie layer: beat the 2 eggs, then add the next 4 ingredients.
  4. Melt and stir the cocoa and butter together. Add to the second mixture. Stir well.
  5. Spread 2/3 of the brownie mixture into the greased pan. Spread the cheese filling over. Cover with the rest of the brownie mixture.
  6. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes.
  7. Icing: put all the icing ingredients in a bowl and beat. Frost the brownies.
